FIRST 5 SACRAMENTO COMMISSION The purpose of this commission is to implement the goals and objectives of the California Children and Families First Act of 1998 and to administer monies in Sacramento County Children and Families First Trust Fund. This commission shall develop and administer local strategic plans that promote an integrated and comprehensive system of services to children from the prenatal stage through age five and their families. The plan may address the following: parental education and support services; availability and provision of high quality accessible and affordable child care; child health care programs emphasizing prevention and diagnostic screenings; and prenatal and postnatal maternal health care services. Qualifications - The Board of Supervisors shall appoint members of the Commission from among recipients of project services included in the County strategic plan; educators specializing in early childhood development; representatives of local child care resource or referral agencies; representatives of a local organization for prevention or early intervention for families at risk; representatives of community-based organizations with the purposes of promoting and nurturing early childhood development; representatives of local school districts; and, representatives of local medical, pediatric or obstetric associations or societies. Any member appointed to the Commission shall reside or work in Sacramento County at the time of appointment and for the duration of his/her term. Alternates shall meet the same criteria and qualifications as members appointed to the Commission. There is ONE seat to be considered due to the resignation of the Board of Supervisor Alternate R. Gross; Application filing period will be from 4/28/25 to 5/9/25 and will be considered by the Board of Supervisors on 5/13/25.
